6232013 Image1Here's a great new book for your collection on Cape Cod:  Farms of Cape Cod by Stephanie Foster, published this week.  Beautiful photos.

Here are some of the local farms described: Kane Farm in Truro, where our friend Tom Kane raises sheep and sells sunflowers; Cape Cod Lavender Farm in Harwich; Halcyon Farm in Brewster, which sells produce at the Wellfleet farmers market; Nestwood Farm in Truro.  There is a chapter on the Truro Agricultural Fair.  My only regret is that the only aquaculture farm Foster chose is one in East Dennis.  No mention of Wellfleet's shellfishermen.  Cranberry and holly farms are also featured.   Did I mention the exceptional photography??  Get yourself a copy today.

PS.  Cape Cod's marvelous State Senator Dan Wolf has decided to run for governor of Massachusetts (!).  Here's his comment on Farms of Cape Cod:  "The grow local movement is perhaps the most inspiring and powerful expression of people's strong desire to reassert control over our land, our economy, our health, our lives.  Stephanie Foster knows this because she has long been part of it, and that in itself is special enough.  But because she is such a strong photojournalist with such a compassionate soul, and because her Cape Cod roots are so deep, she translates that movement into intimate personal images that will grace my coffee table for years to come."
